How to Increase Employee Job Satisfaction

The annual New Zealand Workplace Wellbeing Survey commissioned by EMA and NIB found that a feeling of “low wellbeing” is playing a role in people’s decision to hand in their notice. A change in people’s expectations, precipitated by disruptive COVID lockdowns over the last couple of years, is impacting the current business environment.  The survey found that 91 percent of people believe an increased workload has affected them physically and 87 percent have experienced a psychological and emotional impact.  Many respondents also said they suffer from tiredness and anxiety and have difficulty concentrating. 

 

The Great Resignation 

A current trend, referred to as “The Great Resignation”, is seeing people voluntarily leaving their jobs in record numbers; this in the wake of the pandemic which encouraged a rethink of careers, work-life balance, and long-term goals. Warnings of staff turnover in many sectors reaching up to 50 percent are already playing out. That's according to the annual Salary and Employment Report by human resources platform MyHR, using data relating to more than 1,250 companies, and 27,000 employees, in New Zealand and Australia between 2019 and 2022.
